DESCRIPTION:OpenUK will be hosting a 1000-person plus\, two-day conference in Central London\, “State of Open Con 23”  in association with IEEE\, the headline sponsor.  \nThis is planned to take place at the QEII Centre in Parliament Square and the area outside\, on the 7th and 8th February. \nWe will host plenary sessions on day one\, with all delegates spending the morning in one room\, the vision being to bring together the UN and International Governments and public sector on the same stage for the morning before delegates break for lunch and return to a half day on the 7th and a full day on the 8th with tracks: \n\nPlatform Engineering \nEntrepreneurship\nSecurity\nGovernment\, Law and Policy \nOpen Data \nOpen Hardware\nUnconference\n\nThe remainder of the building will be converted into a Comms Suite with press\, YouTubers\, etc etc and much of the space will be taken up by experiential content and a State of Open Photo Shoot of 50 Key figures in Open Source\, sponsored by Arm.  This has been taken by young photographer Tiana Lee and will also be hung other places in 2023.  \nCFP is now closed!\nThank you for the great response! As well as being a key contributor to Drupal security\, Robert has led the London and UK Drupal community since 2005\, running meetups\, delivering training\, and consulting on large projects. Robert will describe his experiences of working in the community\, why a community of users is vital for project success\, and what newer communities can learn from those more established. \nOur second speaker is Angus Fox who will talk about managing the politics of community. Angus helped organise the UK Twitter development community for over 10 years during which time both the Twitter community and Twitter company had strong\, often different opinions on which direction to take. DESCRIPTION:Join OpenUK on Tuesday 24 October for our next OpenUK community meetup\, which has us starting to think about what we want open source to look like in 2024. What roles are needed? \nHow can we create stronger communities? Any project goals? Anything the OpenUK community can help with? \nWe wont have a speaker at this event as it’s a fishbowl and this is your opportunity to swim in our bowl and share your thoughts on the future of open source software. \nEvery attendee – online or in person – can chose to put their name forward into a prize draw to win a free ticket to the Second Annual State of Open Con taking place on 7-8 February\, 2024\, in central London. So this won’t be a night to be missed! \n6:30pm: Arrive\, grab a bev\, a slice and a chat.\n7:30pm: We will kick off with a couple ice breakers and then jump right into the main event.\n7:45pm: The main activity format will be a fishbowl:\nfive seats at the front of the room\, with one always empty.\nIf a fifth sits down\, one of the others gets up.
