SUMMARY:Summit: Rochester Institute of Technology- Open work in Academia
DESCRIPTION:Why Now?\nThe time is ripe to look at Open Work across communities to compare\, contrast\,\nand cross-pollinate best practices. \n\nThe National Science Foundation is soliciting proposals for funding to support “Open Source Ecosystems” to improve sustainability\, impact\, and translation of “open source research products.”\nThe National Institutes of Health has released new policy to improve and refine the sharing of\, and collaboration around\, research data.\nThe National Academies of Science\, Engineering\, and Medicine (NASEM) have issued a tool kit to improve and encourage university support of Open Scholarship.\nAcross the European Union\, the creation of national policies on Open Science and Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs) for Government is accelerating.\nOSPOs have been created by a few universites to utilize techniques pioneered in private industry to better facilitate academic Open Work.\n\nJoin Us\nOpen@RIT invites professionals from the Academic\, Research and Open Source communities for a two and a half day gathering to explore topics such as: \n\nMeasures of value\, impact and translation of Open Work\nPolicies around support and promotion for success in that work\nBuilding\, sustaining and promoting Open Communities and Ecosystems\nManaging information overload and ferment in the field+\nExisting practices and resources provided by academia to support Open Scholarship and industry

SUMMARY:Devopsdays London
DESCRIPTION:The first DevOpsDays was held in Ghent\, Belgium in 2009. Since then\, DevOpsDays events have multiplied and expanded globally with over 55 events in for 2018. \nDevOpsDays is a worldwide series of community run technical conferences covering topics of software development\, IT infrastructure operations\, and the intersection between them. It is run by volunteers from community\, for the benefit of the community. We are not a commercial conference and we believe that our focus on serving the community creates a truly unique experience for both delegates and sponsors. \nWe expect 350 people (depending on COVID-19 guidance) this year and will be holding the event on September 29-30th at the Kia Oval\, Kennington\, London. \nFor the first time this year we will offer interactive online tickets as well. \nThe format of DevOpsDays London includes a single track of 30 minute talks in the morning of each event\, followed by Ignite talks (5 minute\, auto forwarding). We spend the rest of the afternoon in Open Spaces\, which are considered a key portion of the event.

SUMMARY:Bitkom Forum Open Source 2022
DESCRIPTION:“The headlines about log4j were only a few weeks ago and have triggered an intensive discussion about the security of open source software\, but also about software supply chains in general. For in addition to the criticality of individual programme libraries and modules\, it is becoming clear that critical dependencies can put entire software stacks and software supply chains at risk. This was recently joined by a (renewed) debate about the funding of critical open source packages\, which was triggered by the developer of the open source projects Colors.js and Faker.js [1]. \nAt the same time\, open source has arrived in the German economy. This is clearly demonstrated by the figures of the Bitkom Open Source Monitor 2021. The deployment and use of open source is part of the daily business for many companies and organisations. This raises numerous questions about the fundamental but above all the secure use of open source software. \nThe 8th Bitkom Forum Open Source (#bfoss22) will address various aspects of the security of and with open source and offer a stage for impulses\, ideas\, and initiatives. Because the successful deployment and use of open source software requires trust and competence: Open Source. But secure!”
