HMRC Linux Revolution

On-line tax filing can be an obstacle for SMEs wanting to use Linux on the Desktop. Over the years it’s always been a bit painful to interact with government. For example, originally registering to file on-line locked out Linux

Quietly, HMRC has levelled one part of the the playing field in its support for for employers

HMRC used to provide a CD-ROM with a number of calculators to enable organisations employing 10 people or fewer to calculate tax and National Insurance

Lo, and quietly HMRC now provides these calculators for Linux users, even though they’ve only tested it for Ubuntu, and they even give a bit of support, which is good news for both users and suppliers of linux business computing offers.
