Event Details:
Date: 4th of November 2024
Time: 17.00 UK
Location: Committee Room 1, House of Lords, London, UK
This event will explore the enduring value of analog and physical arts in a society increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and digital technologies. We are thrilled to feature a dynamic lineup of speakers, including Mary Fisk-Taylor representing a business heavily engaged in analogue art creation, Lawrence Lek recent winner of the Frieze London artist award 2024 and a practitioner of AI-enabled art, and Joy Omoregie – GenAI innovative programs lead, within the GenAI Innovation Centre at Amazon Web Services – who will bring their expertise and perspectives to kick off the conversation.
The discussion will cover topics such as:
1. The Historical and Cultural Importance of Physical Arts: How physical arts have shaped our societies and what still persists today as we move into a new era of AI and digitally generated art.
2. The Disruptive Force of AI in the Art World: As AI can now mimic, replicate, and even generate styles, how do we understand the value of human-generated and physical art in a digital-first world?
3. The Role of Policy in Balancing Physical and Digital Art Forms: How policymakers can foster a healthy relationship between our historic physical-first culture and the emerging digital culture.
