
OpenUK Awards 2026, 7th Edition
OpenUK’s Awards and Honours Lists are part of a UK-focused, world leading recognition programme for open tech. It spans software, hardware, data, and AI and spans the intersection of technology and business. In their 7th year, they have become the “Oscars of open source”.
For 2026, our Judges are Laura Czsjkowski, Kunal Kushwaha, and May Cheung.
It’ll be on 5th November 2026, hosted by Chi Onwurah MP at the House of Commons.

Awards timetable
- Nominations open : 6th August
- Nominations close : 6th September, midnight UK
- Shortlist of up to 3 nominees per category announced in September
- Winners Announced on 5th November 2026 at Awards Ceremony
Nomination terms and conditions
- Nominations in more than one category are welcome
- Self nominations as an individual, project or organisation are welcome as well as nominations for third parties
- Nominated individuals must be resident in the UK for the preceding 12 months as at August 7th 2026 for individual or key contributor to projects
- Individuals nominated for the young person category must be aged 30 or under on 5th November 2026
Nominated Projects must provide list of UK resident participants who were resident in the UK during the preceding 12 months as at August 7th 2026 or show as significant UK connection
All companies nominated should have a UK registered entity and must provide a UK company number
All shortlisted nominees (up to 3 per category) will be invited to attend the Awards ceremony free of charge but travel costs are their own responsibility and no contribution from OpenUK is available. One place per shortlisted nominee, per category only.
- Only one winner per category
- Each winner will be provided with a Winner’s trophy. One trophy per category only
- Each shortlisted nominee who does not win will also be provided with a smaller trophy
- Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
- No cash alternative
- OpenUK will have no responsibility for any entry not received, received late, or with missing information
- Nomination alone does not ensure that nominees will be considered. Only nominees who have accepted their nomination by email will be included in those judged and eligible to be short-listed, please look out for the email when you register. This will be followed up once following nominations closing in September. It is the nominee’s responsibility to check their spam filter etc.
