OpenUK’s Blog Submission Guidlines

OpenUK’s weekly blogpost is shared on Thursdays, and is being revamped for 2025. We are interested in sharing your insights on open technology – openness in software, hardware, data, standards and of course AI in the OpenUK blogpost.

We will promote accepted posts across social media and in our newsletter too.

Who can submit

OpenUK will promote articles from its community which spans the UK and globe – that’s an informal collective of people interested in open technology and does not require any formal membership etc to participate.

Blogpost objectives:

  • To educate those learning about or interested in open technology.
  • To update our colleagues on industry news, key events and share our technologies, activities and views.
  • Further the collective knowledge on open tech in the UK and globally.

Areas and topics to be covered:

Our audience is broad and we are keen to cover topical conversations across these areas:

  • Technical conversations – on relevant key and cutting edge topics
  • Business of open technology – from business models to opportunities to collaborate
  • Policy – OpenUK is the second organisation set up to work in policy in openness and we bring together great expertise which we can share through blogposts
  • Projects – what’s happening in your world.
  • Research – sharing outputs of research or areas where we know research is required
  • Skills development from building basic understanding of open tech to understanding the landscape and building specific skills

We know that this is broad ranging but our audience wants to hear about these and other topics, from your personal and relatable experiences and research. If you are able to give these a UK hook, that’s great but not essential.

We seek to provide the global ecosystem with our experiences from the UK in working in the UK and globally in open tech.  These resources will share information to support new entrants and to allow established players to better understand the world of open tech.
