Dr Sara Thomas is the Scotland Programme Coordinator for Wikimedia UK, part time.

She was the Wikimedian in Residence at the Scottish Libraries and Information Council, working primarily with public libraries in Scotland, between August 2017-April 2018. She was also Resident at Museums Galleries Scotland from January 2015 – July 2016, working nationally to advocate for the use of open knowledge in a heritage context.

She got an honorable mention in the “Wikimedian of the Year” category in the UK in 2018.

Sara has an MA(Hons) in English Literature, a PhD in Popular Music (both from the University of Glasgow), and a Diploma in Fundraising from the Institute of Fundraising.

From December 2016-December 2017 she was the Project Officer for Dig It! 2017. She’s worked for music venues, music festivals, heritage organisations, charities, amongst others.
