Alan Pope

Alan Pope is a Developer Advocate with over two decades of experience in open source software and communities. He spent ten years at Canonical contributing to Ubuntu — one of the world’s most widely used Linux distributions — in roles spanning Engineering Manager, Community Manager, and Developer Advocate. He has contributed to projects including Snapcraft, LXD, and cloud-init, maintaining a substantial catalogue of packages in the Snap Store. A co-host of the Linux Matters podcast, Alan is a long-standing advocate for open source adoption, community building, and developer tooling. He currently works at Tessl, an AI-native software development company based in London.
