Special Advisor Learning CommitteeDavid has been an embedded software engineer since the 1980’s working at the frontline of technology projects. He is a school STEM ambassador and co-authored a successful children’s coding book (Adventures in Minecraft) now translated into 7 languages. He has been part of the Raspberry Pi and micro:bit communities since their inception, edits a range of tech books and magazines, and regularly contributes to open source software projects.
As a busy volunteer he often judges at schools competitions, and is well known in the EdTech sector through his work training teachers, supporting at community events and mentoring young people. He was part of the team at The IET providing a 2 year national STEM engagement programme in schools with the BBC micro:bit, and went on to help form and grow the Micro:bit Educational Foundation. He was recently recognised in the EdTech50 2020 yearbook.
