Gavin Freeguard is a freelance consultant specialising in research and policy around data, with a particular interest in government data and digital government. He is a policy associate at Connected by Data, special adviser at the Open Data Institute, associate at the Institute for Government (where he was previously programme director for data and digital) and a member of the Public Digital network. He was previously political adviser to Rt Hon Harriet Harman KC when she was shadow secretary of state for culture, media and sport, and before that, senior editor at the Media Standards Trust and deputy director of the Orwell Prize.
