Richard Fontana is Senior Commercial Counsel at Red Hat. His work at Red Hat spans many aspects of software development, distribution and deployment, with a particular focus on open source-related legal matters. He is a former board director of the Open Source Initiative and was the chair of the OSI’s License Review Committee for several years. Fontana was previously Senior Director and Associate General Counsel for Cloud and Open Source at Hewlett Packard and Counsel at the Software Freedom Law Centre, where he worked on the drafting of the GPLv3 license family.
