Analytics India Magazine’s Siddharth Jindal looks at Meta’s return to open weights with its new Muse Glimmer model, released under an Apache 2.0 licence as it tries to win back developers from Chinese rivals like Kimi K3 and GLM-5.2.
OpenUK CEO Amanda Brock tells AIM that Meta’s new open weight models are “markedly different from Llama, from a licensing perspective, as they are shared on a true open source licence without any commercial restrictions” – though she notes the model isn’t fully open source, since only the weights are released rather than the training data, code and other components.
