DeepSeek is banned for use by employees and contractors of US civilian agencies by Homeland Security. OpenUK CEO Amanda Brock tells Computing that the ban was a significant setback for US technology companies, including Nvidia and Microsoft, which had backed an open letter on 24 July urging the government not to introduce restrictions on open AI models.
