VIDEO | OpenUK CEO Amanda Brock has said wider access to artificial intelligence will be crucial for countries in the Global South to participate in the AI future, arguing that “openness” is central to democratising technology. In an interaction with PTI ahead of the IndiaAI Impact Summit, Brock described OpenUK as an industry organisation that convenes the open source community and works on strategy and policy “a bit like a think tank”. She said open source is a globally collaborative model that underpins technologies used across big tech, enterprises and public services, and helps build standards that others can develop on top of. Brock said the most important factor for AI’s future success will be access. “We need to democratise the technologies, the AI and our digital technologies generally by giving access to all,” she said, adding that openness enables sharing and collaboration.
