Dear Readers,
Welcome back! We hope that you managed to get a summer break, take some rest and enjoy some sunshine. August’s been interesting in open source with Cockroach scuttling away from open source software and Elastic re-embracing it, as featured in our press coverage.
We’re hitting the ground running in September and would appreciate if you:
– sign up to the Open Manifesto and lend your and your organisations name to this when we deliver this to our Prime Minister; and
– nominate yourself or someone else for one of our 12 OpenUK awards which are free to enter – nominations close on 15th September.
We have a number of events coming up:
- 20 spaces to join the audience at a roundtable on AI openness in the House of Lords, 11th September where we will hear from industry and politicians including Baroness Stowell, Leader of the House of Lords’ Communications Committee.
- If you are attending Labour Party Conference why not join our Fringe Events in the secure zone on September 22nd which discuss data centre sustainability and openness, and AI openness.
- Agenda will be announced soon – bookings are open for our second OpenUK Thought Leadership Day on 30th September at Civo’s Tech Junction, London.
- OpenUK meetups are back! London meetup on “AI and Data” on 17th September and our first Apprentice meetup on 11th September. These events are designed for those who want to get into open source or who have been in open source for less than 10 years.
- We also have a digital meetup taking place on 11th November
- Regional meetups will be included in our next newsletter.
